What you will accomplish as a Technical Support Specialist Intern at TAPCO:

The Technical Support Specialist Intern is responsible for handling end-user computer hardware and software support incidents and requests. This position will have the ability to provide excellent customer service to our staff, diagnose problems, and relay recommended solutions to non-technical users. This position reports to the IT Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Actively monitor assignment queues
  • Processes new hire request tasks
  • Triages Helpdesk calls, recording that information in the incidents and request tickets, and escalates to other staff when necessary.
  • Provides employees with computer, printer, and software support by diagnosing problems and recommending problem-solving steps
  • Sets up and/or repairs computer equipment and other related devices
  • Sets up, activates, and deactivates company cell phone accounts and office phone lines
  • Places order for company IT equipment, such as computers, mice, keyboards, and other similar accessories
  • Follows all company safety and cyber-security rules and 5S/Lean Manufacturing policies

Required Qualifications and KSA

  • Windows OS
  • Microsoft Office; including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Spy ware and virus removal
  • Knowledge of computer hardware upgrades and trouble shooting
  • Knowledge of Microsoft active directory
  • Troubleshoot computer equipment malfunctions and inter-connectivity issues
  • Ability to work independently
  • Multitasking capabilities and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with staff, co-workers, and management
  • Organized and detailed oriented
  • Ability to relay technical information in a way staff can understand
  • Prioritize, multi task, and meet deadlines
  • Provide outstanding care and service at all times
  • Follows all safety, cyber-security and 5S/Lean Manufacturing policies

Required Experience

  • This is an entry level position
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience working in a team-based environment would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills working with staff, co-workers, and management supporting hardware and software, working with graphics, and training would be beneficial
