Lubbock Director 39115BR ORDC Position Description Directs, plans, coordinates and supervises the operations and activities of a specialized unit or small department; develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities. Serves as liaison with university personnel and community at large. Works under general supervision with broad latitude for initiative and independent judgement. Major/Essential Functions The Director of Research Development (D-RD) will: o Processes and resources for improving funding competitiveness and management of research agendas and programs
o Development and implementation of policies and processes that interface with other campus units and external agencies and partners o General and targeted communication of funding opportunities for researchers across the university o Promotion of research activities, events, and impact o Identification of potential opportunities for local, state, federal, and private grant funding o Assessment of grant opportunities for fit and prioritization for application Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience. Additional education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Educational Research, Engineering, Marketing, Psychology, Science, Public Affairs, or a closely related field. Extensive experience in managing projects or programs, grant proposal writing, and/or research development. Additional job-related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
