The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg Center in Washington, D.C. seeks an experienced, well-rounded Multimedia Manager to lead video and photo content production at our recently opened hub for education, research, and policy in the nation's capital. The ideal candidate is a skilled video and still photo storyteller who can capture compelling visuals and sound and turn them into powerful on-brand content that resonates with our audience of policymakers, political influencers, and key audiences in D.C. and beyond.

About the Hopkins Bloomberg Center

A bustling hub of collaboration, dialogue and discovery right in the heart of the nation's Capital, the Hopkins Bloomberg Center hosts daily in-person, hybrid and virtual programming from all corners of the John Hopkins University community. The Center frequently partners with prominent domestic and international organizations, as well as government entities and multilateral institutions, to create programming that brings Johns Hopkins policy expertise, research, and data to the forefront of the policymaking conversation in Washington and beyond.

Specific duties & responsibilities:

  • This is a hands-on shooting, editing, and content production position to capture events and interviews with world and national leaders, political heavyweights, leading academics, and future leaders in the fields of international relations, government policy and other disciplines.
  • On a daily basis, you will independently manage multiple video and photography assignments from start to finish.
  • This could include client consultation and needs assessment, concept development, script writing, field producing, shooting, conducting interviews, editing, and shepherding your product through the approval process.
  • Projects will often require turnaround on tight deadlines to meet the needs of news media, social channels, and other audiences and stakeholders.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced technical proficiency with photo and video equipment, lighting setups, and the Adobe Creative Suite (including Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Lightroom.)
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines with colleagues at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership and faculty.
  • Ability to accept, interpret, and integrate feedback from stakeholders at a variety of levels.
  • Ability to work and thrive in an intellectually challenging, immensely complex, and often unpredictable academic environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • This position regularly requires a significant amount of on-site work for events and other shoots, including evenings and some weekends.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • At least five years of experience shooting and producing short-form content for television news, corporate or non-profit communications, or for a similar fast-paced, brand-focused organization.
