The University of Virginia School of Nursing is seeking candidates for a Clinical and Simulation Facilitator position. This 12-month staff position is focused on clinical supervision of students in the off-grounds clinical and on-grounds simulation environments in the School of Nursing and School of Medicine. This position requires the incorporation of evidence-based practice into clinical activities and maintaining a commitment to serving the school of nursing, university, profession, and community. Responsibilities: Simulation Experiences:
Serve as a facilitator for academic nursing/medicine simulation-based experiences/activities - guiding, supporting, and seeking out ways to assist participants in achieving expected outcomes and course objectives. Facilitate the adult learning process that creates a safe, professional, non-threatening learning environment that supports learning across the health care continuum including adjusting content and teaching strategies appropriate for the learners' needs and with the use of varied information and communication technology. Collaborate to develop and modify evidence-based simulation scenarios to meet the curricular needs of pre-licensure and graduate nursing students, with an emphasis on interprofessional learning, person-centered care, and clinical judgment. Plan, prepare, and maintain materials for use in simulation programs for accuracy and relevance to the target audience including developing and updating educational and training materials that address quality and safety and support the learner's ability to respond and lead within complex systems of health care. Oversee the collection of evaluation data, using a variety of technology, on learning outcomes for simulation activities/experiences and collaborate with faculty to disseminate findings. Attend related, required meetings, providing input on the clinical simulation aspects of the nursing programs, and working with fellow faculty to strengthen simulation strategies across the curriculum with a focus on competency-based education. Maintain proficiency in existing and emerging simulation technologies through learning and development education and research activities. Assist in the dissemination of scholarly work related to simulated learning activities and innovation. With appropriate notice, work at night and/or on weekends, if needed Assist with student simulation and skill make up experiences Perform other job duties, as assigned
Off-Campus Clinical Experiences:
Manage patient/client care provided by a group of students (usually 8 students in a group) while students complete their clinical rotation in an area of specialty Coordinate with charge nurse/staff at the clinical site to make student patient assignments Supervise students performing nursing-related duties in the clinical environment Evaluate students' assignments related to their clinical experience Debrief with students in a post-conference environment Become and maintain compliant with all requirements at varying agencies Develop and/or expand connections with agencies that facilitate learning experiences Assist with student clinical make up experiences Attend related/required meetings with course coordinators and faculty in courses where students are supervised in the clinical environment
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or functional/experiential equivalent, or Master's degree in a healthcare or education related field.Master's degree in Nursing preferred. With a Master's degree, four [4] years of experience supporting educational programs in a medical school, or school of nursing or other healthcare. Will consider experience in medical simulation for training in hospitals systems, military or other healthcare educational forums. With a Bachelor's degree, six [6] years of experience is required. Certified Health Care Simulation Educator Certification is required within two years of start date and will be supported by UVA School of Nursing Manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Licensed or eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Virginia. Individuals with all clinical backgrounds are encouraged to apply, but those with pediatric and psych/mental health backgrounds will be prioritized Ability to balance multiple priorities and work independently
Compensation: The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $80,000 - $85,000. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:
