Job Summary
The Department of Crop Soil and Environmental Sciences seeks candidates for a Research Technician position to assist with field data research related to precision agriculture.

This is a One-year limited term appointment. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.

Essential Functions
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

* Operate field and laboratory equipment used in support of research projects and collect data from field experiments.
* Maintain laboratory and field equipment specially sensing technologies used in Precision Agricultural in particular precision irrigation.
* Maintain and troubleshoot soil sensors and dataloggers used for irrigation scheduling.
* Troubleshoot and operate center pivot irrigation systems.
* Purchase materials, supplies, and sometimes small instrumentation required for laboratory and field data collection.
* Organize receipts from purchases, and vehicles' mileage records.
* Assist with collection and organization of field data collected from research studies.
* Provide support with organizations of extension activities (e.g., workshops and field days).
* Oversee undergraduate and graduate students during field and laboratory data collection.
* Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Level I: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, no experience required.

Level II: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of relevant experience in research and/or lab equipment operations.

Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
Minimum Skills, License, and Certifications


Minimum Skills and Abilities
Basic agronomic and environmental sciences knowledge.
Minimum Technology Skills
Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, smartphones, laptop and tablet computers.

Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or Environmental Sciences desired.
