Schedule: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday

Your role with us

We are seeking an experienced laboratory supervisor to lead our West Valley Hospital laboratory team. As a key member of our laboratory leadership, you will oversee daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure high-quality patient care. You will provide guidance, training, and development opportunities to staff, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

What you'll do

  • Plans, directs, and supervises daily workloads, setting high performance standards and ensuring staff are properly trained.
  • Interprets laboratory policies, resolves employee problems, and motivates staff to achieve goals.
  • Participates in hiring decisions, schedules employees, provides orientation and training, and conducts performance evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  • Acts as a liaison between the laboratory and other departments, communicating effectively and resolving issues.
  • Ensures employees understand department and hospital goals, strategies, and action plans.
  • Ensures tests are completed within established turnaround times and audits performance regularly.
  • Demonstrates a personal commitment to performance improvement, modeling principles and using tools to improve quality.
  • Resolves customer complaints and ensures employees meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Creates a learning environment, providing opportunities for employees to develop skills and abilities.
  • Assists staff in defining career development goals and delegates responsibility according to individual skill and knowledge.
  • Continues own education to strengthen knowledge and meet current and future goals.
  • Develops and manages plans for the future direction of areas of responsibility, achieving results within budgetary parameters.
  • Understands regulatory issues and ensures compliance.
  • Obtains a minimum of 8 CEUs annually.
Required qualificationsBachelor's degree; If bachelor's is not in a science field, sufficient course work in the sciences is required to meet CLIA requirements for highly complex testing, OR have a bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology from an accredited institution with six months in high complexity testing within the subspecialty.Medical laboratory scientist licensure (ASCP/AMT).Minimum four years of relevant technical laboratory experience.
