22848BR Intercultural Engagement Specialist Gatehouse Administration Center Description Performs a variety of professional duties required to support community relations and outreach with Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) multicultural and multilingual families and communities; assists in the development of communications and placement of content to reach targeted audiences; develops multilingual content across multiple platforms to broaden community outreach and promote inclusivity with FCPS families and communities. Qualifications Required Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree. One (1) year of experience in community engagement or public affairs for a large agency, school district, or corporation. Advanced degree(s) beyond the minimum degree requirement in a relevant field may be considered for some experience. May require work on evenings, holidays, and weekends. Knowledge of current best practices for community outreach and effective communication with a broad range of stakeholders and diverse audiences. Knowledge of public education, news media, public relation practices, and crisis communications. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations such as public information, Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and ADA compliance. Familiarity of the various communities FCPS serves and their cultural needs. Ability to work within a multicultural community, recognizing the sensitive nature of collaborating with people of different cultural backgrounds and expectations. Proficiency in the use of technology. Ability to work effectively under pressure, multi-task in a fast-paced environment, and meet tight deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in English and Spanish. Preferred Degree in communications, journalism, or community relations.
