RN or GN - Medical Progressive Care (Critical Care Residency)

Overview

Mercy is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Progressive Care Unit (MPCU). In this role, you will provide highquality, patientcentered care to adults with complex medical conditions who require frequent assessments, continuous monitoring, and specialized nursing support. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with progressive medical needs, following evidencebased practice and Mercy standards.
• Monitor vital signs, neurological status, respiratory function, renal function, infection indicators, and overall patient responses-intervening promptly as needed.
• Administer medications, treatments, and procedures with accuracy and strong clinical judgment.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, case managers, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and families on medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, and postdischarge care needs.
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold patient safety practices within the MPCU.

Qualifications

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in medical progressive care, medicalsurgical, telemetry, or other progressive/acute care settings.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (or obtained within a specified timeframe).
• NIH Stroke Scale certification (if applicable to patient population or unit protocols).
