This is a great opportunity for an early-career analyst who wants to build a strong foundation in data analysis and reporting. You will work closely with the team's analytical lead, who will provide guidance and hands-on support as you learn our data, tools, and business. We value people who ask good questions, look for better ways to do things, and are eager to grow.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis & Business Insights

  • Help analyze advertising revenue, inventory utilization, sell-through rates (STR), pricing, and business performance across products and platforms.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and flag trends, discrepancies, and anything that doesn't look right.
  • Support year-over-year, budget-to-actual, and goal-based performance comparisons.
  • Break down business questions into clear, manageable pieces and present findings in a simple, easy-to-follow way.
  • Think creatively and bring fresh ideas when a standard approach doesn't fully answer the question.
  • Assist with ad hoc analytical requests, sometimes on short timelines.
  • Look into data discrepancies and work with team members to make sure reporting is accurate.

Reporting & Dashboard Development

  • Help maintain and improve recurring reports and dashboards in Excel, Power BI, and other reporting tools.
  • Support weekly and monthly reporting across business segments, including sports, regional sports networks, news, and other advertising products.
  • Pull together and organize data from multiple sources for reporting and analysis.
  • Create clear, simple visualizations that make performance data easy to understand.
  • Help ensure reports are accurate, timely, and consistent.

Data Management & Process Improvement

  • Look for ways to simplify reporting processes and reduce manual work.
  • Learn and use tools such as Power Query, Excel data models, and Access to automate data prep and reporting.
  • Share ideas for improving how things are done, even if it's "always been done this way."
  • Perform data checks and help troubleshoot issues to keep reporting reliable.
  • Help document reporting procedures, data sources, and calculations.

Collaboration & Business Support

  • Work with team members and cross-functional partners to understand reporting needs.
  • Partner with the team's analytical lead to prioritize work and support team goals.
  • Explain findings in plain language for both technical and nontechnical audiences.
  • Take ownership of your work, raise issues when you see them, and suggest possible solutions.
  • Adapt to changing priorities and support special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in data Analytics, Business Analytics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in data analysis, reporting, or a related area.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, power query, and data models) and Access or similar tools, with a desire to build more advanced skills.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and an interest in taking complex information and making it simple and clear.
  • Willingness to think outside the box and try new approaches to solve problems.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to stay organized while managing more than one task.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and take feedback.
  • Ability to work independently as your skills develop, and to collaborate with a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in media, advertising, telecommunications, or a related industry.
  • Familiarity with SQL, DAX, or basic data modeling.
  • Experience with advertising platforms such as FreeWheel or Looker.
