The Loan Review Officer independently evaluates commercial credits, confirms the accuracy of risk ratings and identifies emerging concerns. This role reviews repayment capacity, cash flow, collateral, documentation and policy compliance; communicates findings, supports loan review reporting and serves as the backup to the Vice President, Loan Review Manager as needed. Education and Experience Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field is required. Will consider commensurate experience. * Five (5) years of commercial loan review, commercial credit underwriting/analysis, bank examiner, or equivalent is required. * Working knowledge of commercial cash flow analysis for commercial real estate, commercial and industrial, or small business loan portfolios. * Working knowledge of credit risk ratings. * Working knowledge of accounting principles, credit administration, and commercial loan documentation. * Effective interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills. * Strong analytical, organization and process skills, with attention to detail. * Self-starter that can work with limited supervision. * Bank examination experience, including direct contact with examiners, preferred. Essential Functions: * Review commercial loan files of all credit types for the purpose of evaluating borrower relationships to determine loan repayment ability and assessing accuracy of assigned credit risk rating. * Confirm that loans reviewed are closed in accordance with proper approval. * Determine adherence to loan policy and ensure any policy exceptions are disclosed and mitigated. * Assess effectiveness of ongoing credit administration of loans reviewed. Factors to be reviewed for both accuracy and adequacy include analysis of individual, company, and/or global cash flow performance; analysis of the collateral and guarantor strength as secondary and tertiary sources of repayment; identification and proper mitigation of key credit risks; and completeness of credit file with current and relevant information and officer narrative memos. * Assess loan officers' adherence to the bank's lending policies and procedures and monitor compliance with applicable banking laws and regulations.
