| Essential Job Duties |
In this role, you will provide project and change management expertise to lead complex, cross-team initiatives across
DELTA. This role brings structure, collaboration, and organizational excellence to projects that span technology, instructional development, media production, marketing, communications, support, governance, and other strategic priorities. The Lead Project Manager independently manages high-impact projects, coordinates teams and resources, advises colleagues, and helps advance organizational excellence practices across
DELTA and the university. Reporting to the Director, Project Management, this position works in a collaborative, team-based environment and serves as a trusted resource for project management, change management, coaching, and organizational improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the prioritization, definition, coordination, and management of complex DELTA projects, processes, and initiatives involving multiple teams, deliverables, resources, and organizational impacts.
- Partner with development teams, production managers, faculty, clients, vendors, and university colleagues to define project scope, goals, deliverables, dependencies, resources, and timelines.
- Analyze proposed projects and resource requirements to support effective prioritization and organizational planning.
- Develop project schedules, timelines, reports, and workflows that promote visibility, accountability, and effective resource management.
- Facilitate feasibility discussions, resolve competing priorities, negotiate deadlines, and bring teams together to address challenges related to scope, resources, timelines, and deliverables.
- Lead teams and groups without formal supervisory authority, providing direction, coaching, and informal leadership to colleagues.
- Manages and mediates complex conversations involving competing priorities, differing perspectives, sensitive topics, or organizational tensions with sound judgment and professionalism.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert and thought leader in project and change management, applying methodologies and practices such as Agile, Scrum, Prosci, and ADKAR.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align projects and organizational practices with DELTA's strategic goals.
- Research, evaluate, and implement emerging project and change management tools, techniques, and practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Administer DELTA's project management system and lead related training, updates, and process improvements.
- Review and recommend improvements to procedures, workflows, and project management practices.
- Provide consultation, training, presentations, and guidance on project and change management across DELTA and the university.
- Represent DELTA and NC State University on campus committees, interest groups, conferences, and presentations, sharing project and organizational excellence expertise.
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships across DELTA and the university while fostering effective collaboration and communication.
- Mentor new project managers and part-time employees and, as needed, provide oversight of part-time staff.
The successful candidate will bring excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal and organizational abilities, and the confidence to communicate effectively with individuals and groups at all levels. You will be comfortable coordinating across technical, design, instructional, production, and administrative teams and working with internal and external clients and vendors. Experience with web-based collaboration tools and project management platforms such as ClickUp or Monday is highly valued. Most importantly, you will bring the ability to lead through influence, navigate competing priorities, build productive relationships, and use project and change management expertise to move complex work forward. |

- Acts as point of contact for the organization regarding information across projects to facilitate resource and timeline planning.
- Keeps current with developments in project and change management professions (best practices and technologies in support of project and change management).
- Ensures accuracy of data and compliance within approved project standards

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in project management, communications, psychology, education, organizational science, or related field.
- 2+ years experience in project management, including managing time and documenting priorities, milestones and deliverables. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

| Other Required Qualifications |
- Ability to coordinate with design staff, technical staff, coworkers, and internal/external clients and vendors.
- Superior comfort level speaking in groups, particularly when mediating between competing priorities, ideas or needs.
- Familiarity with web-based communication and collaboration tools.
- Expertise with project management applications (e.g. Basecamp, TeamworkPM, MS Project).
- Ability to lead groups or teams without formal supervisory authority.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Master's degree in project management, communications, psychology, education, organizational science, business, or related field.
- Experience with Agile methodology and practice.
- Experience working in a higher education setting.
- Experience working with technology professionals, projects, and products.
- Certified Agile Coach, Certified Scrum Product Owner, Certified ScrumMaster, PMI Project Management Professional, Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, or other project management or change management certifications.
