Job Summary

The Director of Development Finance is responsible for overseeing the financial planning, accounting, reporting, and analysis of development activities across a portfolio of projects. This role manages budgets, forecasts, cash flow, cost tracking, financial reporting, contractual commitments, and compliance while partnering closely with Production Finance, Business Affairs, Creative, Planning, and Financial Reporting teams. The Director provides financial leadership, supervises finance staff, supports audits, and drives process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities



  • Oversee all financial aspects of development accounting, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, cost tracking, and variance analysis.
  • Review development and contractual agreements to ensure accurate financial data and system updates.
  • Prepare and distribute development commitment and management reports.
  • Monitor development commitments, guarantees, and recoupment activities.
  • Prepare quarterly budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections, and financial estimates.
  • Support quarterly expense forecasting and financial planning activities.
  • Manage billing processes for development-related costs and contractual obligations.
  • Review overhead allocations and development expenditures for accuracy.
  • Determine appropriate accounting treatment and timing of development expenses.
  • Reconcile financial reports and system data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit requests and provide supporting documentation.
  • Maintain financial system data, approval workflows, and purchasing controls.
  • Review and approve payment requests, travel authorizations, journal entries, and financial transactions.
  • Prepare quarterly financial reporting schedules and executive reporting packages.
  • Supervise and mentor finance team members.
  • Perform financial analysis, special projects, and ad hoc reporting as assigned.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support business objectives and financial compliance.


Job Requirements



  • Minimum of ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial planning and analysis, including leadership or management experience.
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, and variance analysis.
  • Experience supervising finance or accounting professionals.
  • Experience reviewing contracts and managing financial commitments.
  • Experience supporting quarterly close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and audit activities.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Experience with SAP and SAP Business Warehouse (BW) preferred.
  • Experience in film finance, media, entertainment, or production finance preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership, and leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy.


Education



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
