SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the Central Transport Supervisor, transport to and from the Miriam Hospital, all mail, parcels, packages, medical/surgical and IV supplies, manuscripts, patient related materials, specimens, documents, computer tapes and any other good or supplies as assigned to and from all off site Miriam locals and other organizations via transport vehicle.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pick up incoming mail and on daily basis from East Side station. Deliver outgoing, pre-sort/bulk mail to main Post Office on daily basis.
Maintains constant contact with dispatcher to expedite pick up and delivery assignments.
Maintain a log documenting material to be transported, maintain weekly mileage log, documenting miles driven and miles per gallon.
Responsible for scheduling of vehicle for preventative maintenance, including lubrication, tire repair, cleaning, annual inspection, tune-ups.
Maintain established hospital/department policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control. Review applicable safety manual sections on annual basis.
Perform related errands and other duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Able to read, write, comprehend English.
Geographic knowledge of Rhode Island area and major highways and routes in Southeastern New England.
Valid Rhode Island motor vehicle operator 's license.
Map reading ability.
Be able to transport heavy items such as cartons of printing material, mail bags and boxes of approximately 50 pounds.
EXPERIENCE:
Six months related experience; delivery experience preferred.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.

Pay Range:

$18.00-$25.82
