Accounts Payable Specialist

Handles advanced AP tasks, including resolving complex vendor issues. Provides training to junior staff, recommends process improvements, and collaborates with cross-functional teams. Participates in peer review of work for accuracy and compliance.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Accounts Payable Specialist: Pay commensurate with experience.

Full-time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Accounts Payable Specialist Responsibilities Include:

  • Review submitted invoices to ensure required information is complete; reject or process accordingly.
  • Upload invoices into the tracking system and initiate the approval workflow.
  • Monitor invoices through the approval process, assisting approvers to ensure timely resolution.
  • Enter approved invoices into the accounting system accurately and on schedule.
  • File, maintain, and organize accounts payable records and documentation.
  • Reconcile vendor statements, identify variances, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Ensure adherence to company payment policies and compliance standards.
  • Provide vendor support by researching and resolving invoice and payment inquiries.
  • Maintain accurate AP records and documentation.
  • Investigate and resolve complex vendor issues.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior staff.
  • Participate in peer review of other Specialists' work.
  • Assist in identifying process efficiencies and recommending improvements.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Accounts Payable Specialist Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Education Requirement: High School Diploma; Associates preferred
  • Experience: 2-5 years
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, SharePoint, Excel); experience with accounting systems.
  • Analytical mindset for identifying discrepancies.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems.
  • Basic knowledge of General ledger Accounts and Project levels.
  • Strong collaboration and cross-department communication.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
