This position performs a full range of administrative support for personnel and payroll administration in the Human Resources department. Serves as the payroll lead by processing, auditing and reconciling online time and attendance using multiple payroll softwares.

The Administrative Services Branch provides financial, accounting, budget, payroll and human resources support to all Capital Facilities team programs as they manage a combined suite of projects totaling more than $3.24 billion.
Along with payroll lead, this position also prepares and monitors all personnel actions related to employment actions and position status. Coordinates and processes the new hire onboarding process. Consults with the HR Manager regarding interpretation of laws, policies, procedures, and regulations to department staff. Supports the division in a variety of critical, confidential, complex and time-sensitive Human Resources administrative tasks. The successful candidate must be highly motivated and self-sufficient; possess the skills necessary to work and balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced collaborative team environment; demonstrated ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and exercise high discretion with sensitive human resource information; and be oriented towards providing outstanding customer service to end users.
This position reports to the Capital Facilities Administrative Branch of DPWES, located in the Fairfax County Government Center at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, Virginia.
Note: The assigned functional areas for this position include general administration, payroll, human resources and customer service.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and three years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in human resources, business, or related fields.
- At least two years of experience processing personnel actions and maintaining computerized employee records.
- At least two years of experience assisting with the recruitment/interview process.
- Two years of experience with payroll processing software.
- Two years of experience working in a human resources department.
- Two years of experience using recruitment and position description software.
- Experience working for local, state, or federal government in an administrative setting.
- Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to acknowledge and receive walk-in customers and respond appropriately. Ability to sit and work at a computer terminal for extended periods of time. Must be able to operate keyboard and scanner driven equipment. Visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor. Work is generally sedentary; however, employee may be required to walk, stand, bend, and carry items less than 15 pounds in weight. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
