The good-faith pay range for this role is $169,000 - $266,800 per year. Actual compensation may vary and may be above the posted range based on factors such as a candidate's skills, experience, education, certifications, and work location.


What your job will be like:

Lead the HPDF team of professionals to ensure that the project is successfully delivered from its initial concept through to completion. Foster effective coordination not only within Jefferson lab team but also with Jefferson Laboratory and Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory, facilitating collaboration and communication throughout the entire process.

In this job you will:
  • Ensure timely and accurate communications with DOE, Integrated Project Team, Jefferson Lab Leadership team, and other key stakeholders. Facilitate project communications up, down, and across engaged organizations.
  • Lead project plans that inform the time, funding, and resources for successful project completion and clearly communicate these requirements to governance entities.
  • Execute the HPDF project within the DOE approved baselines and to DOE standards for project management, such as DOE Order 413.3b; apply tailoring strategy as appropriate for Office of Science projects.
  • Execute successful outcome of DOE independent reviews and assessments of the HPDF project.
  • Lead collaboration with a variety of technical teams, computer vendors, and construction managers to coordinate the creation of the HPDF facility that includes computational system, data storage, and software and conventional facilities elements.
  • Work with the JLDC team in the development and communication of HPDF integration into JLDC.
  • Support the Laboratory in the implementation and execution of JLab and DOE mission and goals.
Lead - Supervisory - Management
  • Hire and manage a top talent team to assure project success and to achieve operational objectives.
Experience
  • Required: 15 or more years Experience leading teams to accomplish highly complex technical objectives
  • Required: 5 or more years Experience managing technical projects with a cost of $10M or larger
  • Required: 5 or more years Experience managing research computing or related projects within the DOE laboratory system
  • Required: 5 or more years Expertise managing federally-funded research projects and their related financial requirements
  • Preferred: 4 or more years Direct experience in directing or managing a DOE O413.3b Project
  • Preferred: 5 or more years Experience within the DOE ASCR Program Office
Education
  • Required: Master's Degree in relevant field
Experience and Education Exchange

Education above the minimum may be substituted for experience.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Preferred: Project Management Training and Certification Upon Hire

  • High: Natural problem-solver, solutions oriented, able to progress solutions from high ambiguity to concrete plans.
  • Medium: Ability to negotiate high-value contracts with technology vendors.
  • High: Ability to work with U.S. Government program managers.
  • High: Possesses exemplary communication skills and the ability to work with a broad spectrum of contributors and stakeholders to establish and achieve complex goals in a fast-paced environment.
  • High: High emotional intelligence (i.e. self-awareness, self-management, motivation, empathy, and social skills).
  • High: Able to understand and communicated complex project and funding related financial information.
