About the Job

Position Overview:

This role is centered on the development, coordination, and continuous improvement of the year 2 integrated clinical education curriculum within the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. The position emphasizes longitudinal clinical course design, clinical partnership management, and student progression across practice-based learning experiences, with teaching serving in support of these broader programmatic goals.

Job Duties:

20-30% Curriculum Leadership & Course Ownership:

Hold primary responsibility and operational ownership for the leading, development, implementation, and oversight of the assigned core clinical practice course sequence spanning three sequential semesters.

Direct the planning, recruitment, and strategic management of community-based clinical partners to facilitate educational experiences.

Direct the regular assessment of student performance and collaborate autonomously with high-level curricular leads across the DPT program to maintain educational quality.

25-35% Clinical Education:

Support the clinical education team in an expert advisory and decision-making capacity for DPT students.

Direct and manage the completion of mid-term and final student assessments for assigned advisees.

20-30% Teaching & Instructional Oversight:

Lead critical classroom instruction and manage skills oversight in labs spanning musculoskeletal practice, the movement system, and interventions to meet current DPT program teaching needs.

Demonstrate mastery in classroom management across both complex lab and lecture formats.

0-5% Service & Governance:

Contribute as a key stakeholder to committee work, professional service, and the strategic governance of the DPT program, as well as the Department, Medical School, and University, if indicated.

Other Duties As Assigned.

Qualifications

The position requires a physical therapy degree with licensure in Minnesota. Preference will be given to applicants with prior classroom experience; a history of, strong interpersonal skills, a team-based philosophy, and commitment and passion for the profession of physical therapy and its ongoing advancement to benefit care provision and patient outcomes for the diverse populations we serve. Candidates should have a demonstrated capacity for collaboration across a variety of settings.

About the Department

The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota was created more than 50 years ago in response to a legislative mandate to train primary care physicians. Since then, we have been leaders in transforming the specialty through education, research, and patient care. We are the academic sponsor of seven family medicine residencies-five in the Twin Cities, two in Greater Minnesota. We are involved in medical student education activities across the Medical School's two campuses: Twin Cities and Duluth. We sponsor five fellowship programs-sports medicine, hospice and palliative medicine, behavioral medicine, clinical informatics, and human sexuality- and offer continuing medical education opportunities. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $50,000 - $62,120 per year; depending on education, qualifications, and experience. Most offers land around the midpoint of this range, tailored to the selected candidate's specific background.

Time Appointment: 60% Time Appointment
