The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking menu items according to established recipes, quality standards, and presentation guidelines while maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment. This position plays a key role in delivering exceptional dining experiences by ensuring food is prepared consistently, efficiently, and in accordance with all health and sanitation requirements. Key Responsibilities:
Food Preparation and Production
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes, specifications, and plating standards.
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies before service.
- Ensure food quality, taste, temperature, and presentation meet established standards.
- Maintain proper portion control and minimize food waste.
- Follow all allergy and dietary restrictions with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Assist with prep work and production for restaurant, room service, banquets, and special events as needed.
- Ensure all food products are properly labeled, dated, stored, and rotated according to FIFO standards.
Station Management
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned workstation throughout the shift.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to supervisors.
- Properly operate and maintain kitchen equipment and tools.
- Complete opening, closing, and side work assignments as scheduled.
Safety and Sanitation
- Comply with all federal, state, local, and company food safety and sanitation standards.
- Maintain compliance with HACCP procedures and health department regulations.
- Follow safe food handling practices and proper temperature controls.
- Keep work areas clean and free of hazards.
- Utilize proper knife handling and equipment safety procedures.
Teamwork and Service
- Work collaboratively with chefs and fellow associates to ensure timely service.
- Communicate effectively with front-of-house and culinary teams.
- Support a positive and professional work environment.
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist other stations or departments when business demands require.
Required Qualifications:
- Previous culinary or restaurant experience preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to read recipes and follow instructions accurately.
- Food Handler Certification required (or ability to obtain upon hire)..
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and work in hot and cold environments.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to operate kitchen equipment and utensils safely.
