POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Construction is responsible for overseeing and managing construction operations within a designated region, ensuring successful project delivery from inception to completion. This role involves leading multiple projects and teams, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Director will monitor and manage project budgets, maintain high standards of quality and safety, build and maintain strong client relationships, ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency within the region.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure the safety and security of all employees, facilities, equipment, and inventory across the region. Maintain compliance with all safety, Hazmat, DOT, legal, and employment regulations.
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic oversight and direction for the operations of the region, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and goals.
  • Financial Stewardship: Oversee financial performance across the region, ensuring adherence to the Delegation of Authority and optimizing margins. Ensure accurate and timely billing and collections.
  • Financial Health: Maintain a positive financial posture for the region, conducting regular cost analysis and financial reviews.
  • Business Development: Lead research and client engagement efforts to identify potential projects and secure placement on bidder lists. Develop and maintain an effective business development program to secure new work consistently across the region.
  • Policy Implementation: Drive the implementation of organizational programs, policies, standards, and procedures in line with corporate directives across the region.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage employees, providing training, coaching, and corrective action as needed. Foster a high-performance culture across the region.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open communication channels with the leadership team regarding all operations, processes, and personnel. Promote a collaborative environment with other regions to enhance company-wide efficiency.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake additional responsibilities as required by the operating needs of the region or as directed by senior leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Industry Experience: ~10+ years of progressive experience in construction industry roles.
    • Division 9: Preference given to those candidates with Division 9 experience (walls, floors, ceilings, and decorative elements).
  • Project Management: Demonstrated expertise in project management, including skills and abilities to lead complex projects.
  • Construction Estimating: Proven proficiency in construction estimating, with a strong skill set in this area.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills, capable of working collaboratively and adapting to changing priorities.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Language Proficiency: Excellent grammar and spelling.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to mentor and guide employees within the branch.
  • Team Orientation: Team player and self-starter, with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and maintain confidentiality.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS (Select Officer / Field - Delete Other)

Field Work Environment:

This position operates in a variety of outdoor settings, including construction sites, which may involve exposure to extreme weather conditions. The role frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment can be loud, and the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. Safety protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) are mandatory.

Field Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may also be required to work at heights and in confined spaces.
