We are adding a Senior Accounts Receivable Specialist to our Finance and Accounting division in Seattle, Washington. In this role, you will take ownership of assigned accounts and support cash application, collections, and issue resolution across a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

You will be responsible for driving invoices to payment by coordinating with internal partners-including Project Managers, Billing, and Service teams-resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accurate and timely cash application. While collections is a key component of the role, success depends equally on your ability to build relationships, navigate customer nuances, and proactively identify and remove barriers to payment.

This position is well-suited for someone who is detail-oriented, results-driven, and comfortable working across teams to manage competing priorities. As our processes and systems continue to evolve, this role also offers the opportunity to contribute to ongoing improvements and develop a deeper understanding of end-to-end accounts receivable operations.

This role is based in Seattle, WA and operates on a hybrid work schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting processing cash and adjustments
  • Maintaining records regarding payment and account statuses
  • Review account information, resolving customer payment and billing discrepancies
  • Communicating with other departments to ensure customer records are accurate and complete
  • Responsible for setting up new customers in the system and making updates
  • Responsible for sending out statements
  • Take ownership of assigned accounts to actively move invoices to payment by securing payment dates, identifying blockers, and coordinating resolution
  • Respond to internal and external requests related to accounts receivable balances and invoices
  • Research returned mail and work with team to update
  • Cross train and support billing (collection of sub-tier lien releases from vendors) and invoicing as needed
  • Provide quality, professional customer service to all internal and external customers
  • Handle incoming inquiries (by phone, email, in-person)
  • Coordinate with internal partners to resolve customer payment issues
  • Maintain and update process documentation

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Associate degree (AA) in Business or Accounting or equivalent work experience
  • 4-6 Years of experience in Accounts Receivable, experience in collections preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite -Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills required
  • Demonstrates organizational, problem-solving, avid researcher and analytical skills required
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills required
  • Self-motivated; deadline oriented with strong attention to detail required
  • Professional, positive, and friendly attitude at all times required
  • Willingness to learn and assume additional duties required

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $33.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This is a non-exempt role and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
