Opportunity Overview
STS Technical Services is partnering with a leading aerospace and defense organization seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the integration of advanced electronic and mission systems on military aircraft platforms. This is a contract-to-direct hire opportunity with the potential for direct employment at or before the six-month mark based on performance and business needs. We are seeking aviation electrical engineers with aircraft systems integration backgrounds. However, strong consideration will also be given to motivated Junior Engineers who possess relevant electrical engineering education and a desire to grow within the aerospace and defense industry.
Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, integration, testing, and implementation of electrical and avionics systems installed on military aircraft. This role supports communications, navigation, GPS, satellite communications, RF systems, mission equipment, weapons integration, and other aircraft modifications. The engineer will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical engineering, avionics, EMI/EMC specialists, manufacturing personnel, technicians, inspectors, and program leadership to ensure successful aircraft integration efforts.
Essential Responsibilities
- Lead aircraft electrical integration activities for avionics and mission systems.
- Develop and review electrical engineering designs, schematics, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, cable routing packages, and installation documentation.
- Perform electrical load analysis, power distribution studies, and system interface evaluations.
- Research and select electrical components including wiring, connectors, relays, circuit protection devices, and related hardware.
- Prepare engineering documentation and technical reports supporting airworthiness and certification requirements.
- Support system-level testing, troubleshooting, and validation activities.
- Develop test procedures, qualification plans, and verification documentation.
- Participate in customer design reviews including kickoff meetings, preliminary design reviews (PDR), critical design reviews (CDR), and program status reviews.
- Provide technical guidance to technicians, manufacturing personnel, drafters, technical writers, and support staff.
- Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are achieved.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Experience with electrical systems design, integration, or modification projects.
- Knowledge of electrical power distribution, wiring systems, avionics integration, and aircraft electrical interfaces.
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency with engineering software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years of aerospace or defense electrical engineering experience.
- Aircraft electrical systems integration experience.
- Military aviation modification or sustainment experience.
- Knowledge of communications, navigation, RF, SATCOM, GPS, mission systems, or weapons integration.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC considerations and compliance requirements.
- Experience with AutoCAD or related CAD platforms.
- Active Secret Security Clearance.
Security Requirements
- Active Secret Security Clearance is highly preferred.
- Candidates without an active clearance will be considered; however, they must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret Clearance and ultimately meet all security clearance requirements.
