DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports daily mail operations that help the Department of State and other Commonwealth agencies receive, sort, and deliver important materials. The work includes independent judgment, customer service, and the use of tracking systems to keep mail moving efficiently. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Mail Delivery: Deliver mail, packages, and priority correspondence to program areas and Commonwealth locations
- Mail Sorting: Sort incoming external and interoffice mail according to policy
- Mail Pickup: Collect outgoing and interoffice mail from assigned offices for processing
- Tracking Systems: Use the Intra Mobile Scanning System to track mail movement and prepare reports
- Safety Screening: Conduct initial screening of suspicious mail and notify the supervisor when further action is needed
- Equipment Upkeep: Maintain mailroom equipment, logs, and assigned vehicles to support daily operations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm, Monday-Friday, with a 1-hour lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Graduation from high school; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- This position requires a valid Class C drivers license.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
