THE POSITION

Step into a meaningful role as a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Department of Environmental Protection. This position gives you the chance to support important environmental efforts in the Southcentral Regional Office in Harrisburg. You will help keep daily operations running smoothly while contributing to work that protects the air we all breathe. Join a team that values accuracy, teamwork, and public service.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role provides clerical support that keeps the Air Quality Program and Southcentral Regional Office running efficiently. You will assist staff, manage documents, and support daily operational needs. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Data Entry: Enter accurate information into DEP electronic systems while following required guidelines
  • Permit Processing: Receive permit applications, route them to staff, and record them in the eFACTS database
  • Document Handling: Prepare, distribute, and track Air Quality permits and related materials
  • Payment Management: Process fees, penalty payments, and deposits according to established procedures
  • Communication Support: Answer calls, provide information, and route inquiries to appropriate staff
  • Record Preparation: Organize files, convert mail to electronic format, and support OnBase uploads

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00AM to 4:00PM, Monday thru Friday with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week after required training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
