DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the upkeep, safety, and conservation of state forest lands through a wide range of outdoor maintenance tasks. Work involves using tools, equipment, and practical skills to maintain facilities, roads, and recreation areas. As a Forest Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:
- Facility Upkeep: Maintain picnic areas, restrooms, buildings, and recreation sites to keep them clean and safe
- Equipment Operation: Operate vehicles, ATVs, chainsaws, generators, and other tools after receiving proper training
- Road Maintenance: Repair culverts, ditches, road surfaces, and related features on state forest roads
- Fire Response: Assist with wildfire suppression efforts after completing required wildland fire training
- Tool Use: Use hand and power tools to complete construction, cleaning, and repair tasks across forest facilities
- General Repairs: Perform basic plumbing, electrical, and equipment maintenance to support daily operations

This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027. Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position may require overtime. - Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
