Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Riverside, CA Job ID: #72531 Pay Range: $75-79 ph (W2) Duration: 12 mos Seeking a highly capable contract Manufacturing Engineer to support the a nacelle development program from Preliminary Design Review (PDR) through delivery of integrated engine/nacelle hardware planned for mid 2027. This role plays a critical part in maturing designs for production readiness, establishing manufacturing baselines, and ensuring seamless transition from development to first article build and integration. Key Responsibilities * Provide manufacturing engineering leadership across development lifecycle phases, from PDR through hardware delivery. * Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles into engineering designs to ensure producibility, affordability, and repeatability. * Develop and maintain item master data, including material definitions, tooling requirements, bills of material (BOM), and manufacturing routings. * Ensure alignment between the as designed and as built configuration, managing change control and maintaining configuration integrity. * Serve as a manufacturing liaison engineer for both make and buy components, supporting engineering, supply chain, and supplier development teams. * Support build planning and preparation activities, including tooling readiness, manufacturing plan validation, and production readiness assessments. * Provide onsite support for first article builds at Collins Aerospace facilities and supplier locations, resolving manufacturing issues in real time. * Collaborate across Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Program teams to enable successful hardware integration for the JetZero program. Required Qualifications * B.S. in a relevant engineering subject (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or other) * 8+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer in an aerospace development or production environment. * Strong understanding of DFM principles, configuration management, and manufacturing documentation (BOMs, routings, processes). * Experience supporting both in house manufacturing and suppliers. * Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and drive resolution in a fast paced development environment. * Strong communication, cross functional collaboration, and technical problem solving skills. * Ability to travel approximately 30% to domestic and international sites. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with CATIA, Teamcenter, SAP, and Solumina. * Background in nacelle structures, propulsion integration, or complex aerospace assemblies. * Experience with metallic fabrication, composite bond, and assembly processes. * Prior involvement in technology development, prototype, or first article build programs.
