Our Core Values guide everything we do: Every Person Matters | Together We Can Do Great Things | This Is More Than a Job Position Overview The Plant Mechanic I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting mechanical maintenance activities in a cement plant. This role assists with inspections, basic repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks to help ensure safe and reliable equipment operation. The position is designed for individuals developing mechanical skills in a heavy industrial environment, with a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and continuous learning. What You'll Do * Adhere to all environmental and safety policies, rules, and procedures, including MSHA regulations. * Assist experienced mechanics with maintenance and repair of plant equipment such as conveyors, pumps, fans, and material handling systems. * Perform basic maintenance tasks such as lubrication, cleaning, and component replacement under supervision. * Learn the layout and function of cement plant systems and equipment. * Support preventative maintenance activities according to work orders and schedules. * Conduct basic visual inspections of equipment and report abnormalities to supervision. * Maintain clean and organized work areas before, during, and after task completion. * Follow all lockout/tagout and safety procedures without exception. * Accurately communicate job progress, issues, and completion status to supervisors or lead mechanics. * Assist in documenting work performed, including parts used and observations. * Safely operate basic hand tools and equipment as trained. * Participate in training to develop mechanical skills and understanding of cement plant operations. * Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to learn in a team-oriented environment. * Follow plant schedules including start times, breaks, and shift end times. * Support housekeeping and area inspections to maintain a safe and compliant facility. What You'll Bring Education & Experience * High school diploma or GED preferred. * Technical training in mechanical maintenance, industrial technology, or a related field is a plus. * 0 to 1 year of experience in mechanical maintenance, industrial work, or a related field preferred. * Previous experience in construction, mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environments is beneficial but not required. * Entry-level candidates with strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply. Other Qualifications * Ability to work in a physically demanding industrial environment, including exposure to heights, confined spaces, and moving equipment. * Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods * Commitment to following all safety rules, including proper use of PPE and MSHA compliance. * Willingness to learn and take direction from supervisors and experienced mechanics. * Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a production-driven environment. * Basic problem-solving skills and a desire to develop mechanical knowledge. * Dependable with good attendance and a strong work ethic. * Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules, including overtime or shift work as needed. * Notice to Staffing Agencies Capitol Aggregates Inc.
