Military Flight Controls Division Supporting aircraft worldwide, Parker Aerospace's Military Flight Controls Division (MFCD) provides primary and secondary flight control systems that make flight possible. Tested, proven and trusted in commercial and military applications for decades, MFCD provides precise position-control actuation solutions for military aircraft across the United States and with foreign partners. The division's JetPipe electrohydraulic servovalve (EHSV) technology is used across commercial and military aircraft around the world. Headquartered in Irvine, California, the Military Flight Controls Division is the global leader in fly-by-wire flight control systems and electrohydraulic products and offers the world's most advanced motor design capabilities for flight controls.

Summary:

Ensures timely and efficient completion of engineering projects to achieve company, customer, and product reliability and cost objectives. Has overall responsibility for leading configuration management of projects, including development and legacy projects. Is responsible for technical scope, cost and schedule management of assigned projects/tasks. Plans, schedules, and coordinates efforts of the configuration management team and is accountable to track team performance metrics and make plans to meet operational targets.

Serves as a technical advisor on configuration and data control, in alignment with AS9100 and industry standards. Must leverage project management and leadership skills to gain a thorough understanding of the organization's processes and customers in order to maintain configuration and data compliance across all project platforms.

Have indirect or matrix responsibility to guide the technical work of a high performing team to achieve engineering operations metrics. Has regular and frequent internal interface to present project status; may be the primary contact with other divisions or groups in the same Community of Practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary technical resource for configuration management of all new development and legacy products.

  • Define and control product configuration baselines during product development, qualification, and production. Ensure only approved product configurations are released to the production and operations functions.

  • Supports Functional Configuration Audits (FCA) and Physical Configuration Audits (PCA).

  • Manages the Change Control Board for all part affecting documents. Is the subject matter expert for all configuration and change control issues.

  • Lead the document control team using Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.

  • Ensures consistent engineering standards, processes, and documentation methods are used in project deliverables.

  • Uses a lean mindset to identify process and procedure gaps by reviewing technical project requirements and creating process maps.

  • Develops or updates processes and coordinates process implementation teams.

  • Maintains internal specifications and standards and enforces configuration management processes.

  • Supports AS9100 annual audits.

  • Maintains frequent formal and informal leadership interface to present team metrics.

  • Reviews technical project work prepared by others (e.g. system schematics, layouts, algorithms, transfer functions and related test plans, procedures and reports) by applying engineering principles and technical judgment as it pertains to configuration.

  • Advises and monitors regulatory and intellectual property concerns.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, benchmarking best practices, and/or participating in professional associations.

  • Acts as point of contact on configuration and data management related matters.

  • Identifies mentoring and development needs; serves as a mentor for other employees. May serve as a functional specialist.

Job Requirement :

  • Bachelor's degree (BS) (or Professional Engineer (PE) certificate) in engineering or a science technical discipline.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through 7-9 years of related experience.

  • Has thorough in-depth knowledge of engineering domain principles, concepts, product standards, and techniques, industry practices, regulations, and policies.

  • Ability to apply broad knowledge of other related engineering or scientific field to area of expertise.

  • Ability to effectively communicate and present status, actions, recommendations, and other technical information with clarity and precision.

  • Ability to respond to significant inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or product development & design teams.

  • Effective project management and organizational skills. Able to facilitate project team interactions and develop project team member capabilities.

  • Proficient with software and specialized data analysis, design, and project management tools following established project/program management protocol.

  • Proficiency in 3DExperience preferred.

  • Ability to establish and track performance to goals and objectives to complete complex or major projects and provide direction to the team at project milestones.

  • Proficient with standard project management tools and practices.

  • Pay Range: $104400 to $174150 annually
  • Participation in Annual Incentive Program
