Job Summary:

The University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus, School of Dental Medicine (SDM) welcomes applications for Director of Predoctoral Education from exceptional candidates for a full-time, clinical track faculty (Open Rank) to work in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) and the CU School of Dental Medicine.

The Predoctoral Education Director will provide strategic and operational leadership and direction, managing all aspects of the Predoctoral Program. The successful candidate will be an outstanding clinician-educator with interest in, and commitment to clinical care, teaching, and scholarship. This position reports to the department chair with their primary location at CHCO.

The Pediatric Dentistry clinics provide routine dental check-ups and complex oral treatments. Faculty focus on providing care for all children, including those with special needs, by creating care plans that include special behavioral requirements as needed for each child. The Department of Pediatric Dentistry faculty dedicate their time exclusively to working with children, teens and on young adults with SHCN.

The Predoctoral Pediatric Dentistry Program at the School of Dental Medicine is located at the Pediatric Dental Center within the Children's Hospital Colorado's Health Pavilion. The pediatric dentistry program has three care sites, including the hospital's newest multidisciplinary facilities, the Health Pavilion Dental Center and North Campus Dental Center, and Main Children's Hospital on the Anschutz Medical Campus.

Examples of Work Performed:

* Primary responsibilities include working as course director for predoctoral pediatric dentistry courses as well as supervision of dental students during their clinical pediatric dentistry rotation at the Health Pavilion Dental Center.

* Secondary responsibilities include overseeing overall continuity and quality of patient care in the predoctoral student clinic and performing outcomes assessments and student satisfaction surveys.

* Additional responsibilities include operational leadership and management of aspects of the predoctoral program including grading and drafting CODA self-study document with a commitment to ensuring excellent educational and patient care experiences for dental trainees.

* Responsibilities also include curriculum development and implementation ensuring full compliance with CODA guidelines from the predoctoral dental program.

* Responsibilities also include didactic and clinical teaching in the postdoctoral hospital-based residency program as part of Children's Hospital Colorado, the largest clinically integrated network in Colorado dedicated exclusively to children.

* The Director of Predoctoral Education will be expected to conduct ongoing evaluation of program goals, objectives, and content as well as outcomes assessment.

* The Director of Predoctoral Education will also be expected to represent the program at national meetings including Joint Academic Day at the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry annual conference or American Dental Education Association annual conferences.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

This is an open rank position and based on experience and qualifications as indicated below. Initial rank is based upon knowledge, achievement, and experience, and with the opportunity for academic promotion based upon demonstrated, ongoing excellence in education, research, clinical care, and community service. Applicants must have a clinical, scholarly, and/or academic record consistent with each SDM Faculty appointment level in the School of Dental Medicine.

Assistant Professor:

* A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent

* Completion of a CODA approved Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program

* Eligibility for a Colorado dental license and board eligible in pediatric Dentistry

* Some successful teaching experience and/or history of providing clinical care.

Associate Professor:

* A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent

* Completion of a CODA approved Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program

* Eligibility for a Colorado dental license and board eligible in pediatric Dentistry

* Well qualified to teach and/or provide clinical care with considerable demonstrated evidence of successful teaching and demonstrated leadership and service.

Professor:

* A DDS/DMD degree from a CODA accredited U.S. dental school or foreign equivalent

* Completion of a CODA approved Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program

* Eligibility for a Colorado dental license and board eligible in pediatric Dentistry

* Demonstrate outstanding accomplishments in teaching, and/or providing clinical care, a record of leadership, and a meritorious leadership and service record.

Preferred Qualifications:

* The preferred candidate will have academic healthcare experience and a demonstrated commitment to working in a collaborative and multi-cultural environment; and must be committed to the highest standards of conduct.

* Demonstrated previous academic and patient care experience mentoring and precepting students, trainees, staff, etc.

* Commitment to working with vulnerable and underserved populations.

* Demonstrated leadership, organizational and communication skills

* Graduate degree in a relevant and applicable area; Candidates with an additional doctoral degree, such as PhD, are encouraged to apply as well.

* Embrace and model the CHCO Standards of Behavior and hold trainees accountable for adherence to these standards

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

* Assistant $185,000-197,500

* Associate $210,000-222,500

* Professor $231,000-254,000

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
