Hourly Pay Range:

$82.25 - $127.49 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Director, Associate General Counsel - People

As Director/Associate General Counsel, People at Endeavor Health, you will work in collaboration with the Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, People to provide legal support to Endeavor Health's Leadership and Human Resources teams, advising the organization on all employee related matters. Additionally, in collaboration with team members across the legal department and other stakeholders, you will develop, and support organizational policies, procedures, oversee investigations, and be a key subject matter stakeholder in the development of other System initiatives. To be successful in this role, you will proactively identify the regulatory developments and risks impacting the System and provide recommendations on how to mitigate the associated risks and ensure compliance with all areas of employment law.

  • Hours: Monday-Friday, during normal business hours

  • Required Travel: travel to other Endeavor Health locations will be required

What you will do:

  • Advise HR and Leadership on all aspect of employment related matters, including recruiting, hiring, background checks, discipline, leave and accommodation administration, termination, restrictive covenants, wage and hour laws, benefits, and workplace safety.

  • Provides strategic guidance and analysis related to System initiatives or proposed employee programs to ensure regulatory compliance. Participates in oversight and governance meetings as and when requested.

  • Investigate and respond to administrative agency claims in cooperation with the Human Resources team. Represent the System in administrative proceedings related to employment or other human resource issues, including the negotiation of resolution of claims.

  • Manage employment-related litigation, collaborating with outside counsel and overseeing discovery and litigation budgets.

  • Draft, review, and update policies, procedure and protocols to evolve policies within this area to reflect best practices, regulatory changes and/or System alignment and values.

  • Conduct or oversee internal investigations regarding employee complaints, including harassment and discrimination allegations.

  • Draft and negotiate employment agreements, separation agreements, and independent contractor agreements. Draft complex legal agreements, documents, filing and/or memorandums related to people matters of the organization for review and approval of Legal leadership.

  • Develop and deliver training to managers and employees on legal compliance, anti-harassment, and employment best practices.

  • Monitor and analyze changes in employment law, providing actionable guidance to the business.

  • Participates in continuing legal education programs and other activities as necessary to keep informed of developments in the employment laws, new and proposed statutes, and regulations and provide education to key stakeholders on developments in the law.

  • Oversees and coordinates work and communication amongst team member(s) to ensure efficiency and balanced workload, while developing areas for continued growth and responsibility to best support the System and Legal department. Demonstrates excellent leadership skills, including those needed to manage and inspire confidence in staff.

What you will need:

  • Education: Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Certification: Admitted to practice Law in Illinois

  • Experience:

    • 10+ years of relevant and/or progressive experience at a law firm or in-house legal department with prior experience in employment and labor matters as a primary focus.

    • 2+ years of leadership experience.

  • Unique or Preferred Skills:

    • Collaboration - Facilitates open dialogue with a wide variety of contributors and stakeholders. Balances own interests with others while being fair to others and their areas.

    • Project Management - Ability to initiate, plan, execute, control and close the work of a project group or team to meet specific success criteria
