Position Title: MuleSoft Center of Excellence Lead Location: Remote; Travel to DMV area up to 25% Other Considerations: U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (Required) POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking a MuleSoft Center of Excellence (COE) Lead to support the VA Digital Transformation Center (DTC). This role serves as the MuleSoft technical program manager and integration lead, responsible for delivery execution, platform governance, risk management, and leadership of the MuleSoft team supporting VA mission systems. The COE Lead provides technical oversight while guiding teams and customers toward scalable, secure integration outcomes. RESPONSIBILITIES Lead enterprise integration delivery using MuleSoft and API-led connectivity principles. Provide technical direction to ensure secure, scalable, and standardized integration solutions. Define integration standards, reusable patterns, and API best practices in alignment with enterprise architecture and program goals. Own MuleSoft platform governance, sustainment, and delivery execution. Ensure compliance with PWS, SOW, security, and architectural governance requirements. Support ARB activities and communicate integration decisions, risks, and impacts to stakeholders. Maintain a proactive MuleSoft risk register with mitigation and escalation plans. Identify, manage, and escalate delivery, platform, and contractual risks. Provide concise weekly reporting on risks, mitigation status, and forward-looking concerns. Oversee MuleSoft delivery execution, timelines, and priorities. Ensure release readiness, deployment discipline, and platform reliability. Maintain monitoring, observability, KPIs, and reporting aligned with contractual requirements. Lead the MuleSoft team with clear expectations, accountability, and urgency. Conduct regular 1:1s focused on performance, coaching, and development. Drive agile execution, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous process improvement. Serve as the primary MuleSoft lead for customer engagement and guidance. Advise stakeholders on scalable, compliant integration approaches. Represent MuleSoft posture, risks, and decisions in leadership and governance forums. Experience Minimum of 7-10 years of experience designing, building, or leading enterprise software platforms or integration environments Demonstrated experience leading or overseeing platform delivery across development, test, and production environments Proven ability to own platform operations, including maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement initiatives Experience working in large-scale, enterprise IT environments, including cloud platforms, integration ecosystems, or SaaS-based architectures Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, stakeholders, and leadership, including presenting platform status, risks, and recommendations Experience preparing and delivering structured reporting on platform performance, risks, and operational health, including forward-looking insights Proven experience supporting or leading platform lifecycle activities, including deployment, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement Experience identifying, managing, and escalating technical and delivery risks in complex, multi-team environments Demonstrated ability to coordinate across cross-functional teams and drive alignment on technical priorities and execution Clearance Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate VA background investigation and PIV credential required to perform the role. Education (LCAT Required) Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required. Additional relevant experience may be substituted for education in accordance with contract guidelines. Preferred Certifications MuleSoft Certifications (Developer, Platform Architect, Integration Architect) - Preferred ITIL or equivalent service management certification - Preferred Agile/Scrum certifications - Preferred WORKING CONDITIONS Standard Business hours are Monday through Friday (list any particular schedule). Occasional extended or weekend hours may be required based on operational needs.
