The Dentist position with the Department of Human Services (DHS) is a chance to support the well-being of people who depend on skilled and careful dental care. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position provides dental services that support the health, safety, and comfort of individuals living at the Selinsgrove Center. The role includes examinations, treatment planning, and coordination with the care team to ensure strong dental health. As a Dentist, you will perform the following duties:

  • Dental Care: Provide exams, treatments, and preventive services for all individuals at the Center
  • Treatment Planning: Diagnose oral conditions, determine appropriate treatments, and provide follow-up care
  • Clinical Procedures: Perform fillings, extractions, x rays, minor oral surgery, and denture work
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate documentation and update dental policies when needed
  • Team Collaboration: Share information with staff and contribute professional input to each individual's Individual Support Plan
  • Staff Guidance: Direct the work of the Dental Assistant and provide training on dental care practices

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Overtime as needed
  • Free parking
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from an approved school of dentistry.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Special Requirement:
  • You must possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
