DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role focuses on supporting individuals as they participate in recreational and vocational activities that reflect their personal life goals. You assist with programs, provide guidance, and help maintain a safe and supportive environment. As a Therapeutic Activities Aide, you will perform the following duties:

  • Activity Support: Assist individuals during therapeutic, recreational, and vocational activities across various settings
  • Individual Guidance: Provide instruction and encouragement to help individuals work toward their Individual Support Plan goals
  • Safety Monitoring: Observe individuals during programs and outings to support safety and well being
  • Housekeeping Tasks: Maintain clean work areas, manage supplies, and care for program equipment
  • Program Assistance: Support activities on and off grounds, including trips, events, and community employment areas
  • Residential Support: Help residential staff with treatment and training activities when assigned to living areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 1st shift (8:00 AM to 4:00 PM) and 2nd shift (1:00 PM to 9:00 PM), with a 30-minute lunch. You will have rotating break days.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Overtime and travel as needed

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as an Aide Trainee (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Six months of work experience providing care to individuals requiring assistance with daily activities; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
