Voith Hydro is hiring for: Engineer III, Manufacturing York, PA Summary - The Manufacturing Engineer 3 supports the safe and efficient manufacturing of hydroelectric components to be delivered on time with zero defects. They provide manufacturing solutions from project inception through production while performing under minimal supervision or mentorship. An Engineer 3 uses existing procedures, instruction and guidance to solve routine manufacturing problems. The Engineer 3 is capable to be assigned as lead engineer for all projects and able to perform tooling design and troubleshooting for rehab and new components with little to no direct supervision.
Responsibilities -
- Support the manufacturing of hydro turbine/generator products in the Voith Hydro York facility
- Perform manufacturing process analysis of turbine/generator components and develop changes to process based on safety, quality, schedule, and cost
- Design shop tooling as necessary to support manufacturing processes
- Performing necessary design calculations (as required) by employing common engineering principles and using hand calculations, proprietary Voith design tools.
- Provide direct support to other manufacturing engineering processes such as estimation review and development, raw plate and NC tape review, routing review, design/calculation review for peers, machine programming review and engineering support, and cost control analysis for management
- Drive manufacturing innovation by investigating emergent and existing technologies and their potential application in VHY manufacturing processes, developing business cases for investment, and supporting through implementation
- Suggest design changes, modifications, and standardization to product engineering to facilitate manufacturing at an economical and competitive level
- Participate in product and manufacturing design reviews
- Assist Maintenance personnel with engineering support and design
- Assist Safety team in addressing safety issues through tooling or design updates
- Incorporate problem solving skills, methods, and procedures to reduce cost of manufacturing (5S, Lean manufacturing, OPEX, etc.)
- Operates CAD equipment to complete work assignments
- Provide leadership and direction to less senior Engineers within the department
- Review and release engineering documents and Bill of Materials.
- Keeping supervisors abreast of progress on assigned work (milestones reached, workload, challenges, and delays).
- Supporting the quality department with continuous improvement and problem solving activities.

Education and Experience
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
- Typically at least 7 to 10 years of relevant manufacturing, engineering, or mechanical experience
- Demonstrate effective collaboration teamwork skills
- Ability to multi-task based on business needs
- Excellent time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Strong CAD experience
- Where required by local regulations, an engineering license may be required
Physical Requirements -
- The employee is required to talk and/or hear in an office and manufacturing setting. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk in an office and manufacturing environment from 4-8 hours. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; lift; stoop, or crouch.
- The vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception and adjust focus.
- The employee is also required to occasionally travel to power plants and walk-through units with a requirement to crawl, climb, and get into confined spaces.
- The job may require travel.
