NaphCare is seeking to hire a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team of medical professionals in the Alabama Department of Corrections - Staton in Elmore, AL.

Full Time and Part Time positions may be available!

As a Correctional Certified Nursing Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a registered nurse alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged including assisting physicians and other healthcare professionals with examinations, taking patient histories, vital signs, supporting administrative tasks, etc. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.



Responsibilities

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will play a critical role in our continued mission to provide quality healthcare that protects the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties and responsibilities may include and not be limited to:

Clinical Duties:

    Assist with performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
  • Taking vital signs including blood press Finish ure, temperature, respiration, and weight
  • Documenting medical history including medications, treatment and medical conditions
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills including bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility
  • Providing basic wound care, basic laboratory tests, basic patient education and instructions
  • Observing and reporting changes in patients' physical or mental health to nurses

Administrative Duties:

  • Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments
  • Maintaining inventory of medical and office supplies
  • Answering phones, emails and other forms of communications


Qualifications

Requirements / Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities:

Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
