| Position Summary |
This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable living and learning environment within University residence halls and designated student life facilities. As a highly visible and critical member of the Housing and Residence Life team, this role regularly interacts with students, staff, faculty, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative and responsive maintenance across residence halls and student life facilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair issues in building systems and infrastructure
- Some knowledge across multiple trades, including plumbing, electrical/electronics, HVAC, carpentry.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable standards
- Support the overall operations and upkeep of Housing and Residence Life facilities

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Some positions may require special licenses or certification.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Technical or trade school completion helpful.
* Trade certifications and/or licensure helpful. Trade specific course completion or continuing education classes in trades.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in building maintenance or trade related field.
* Work experience in a residential and/or educational setting.
* Experience and demonstrated skill in multiple trades, the ideal candidate will have advanced skill in at least one trade preferably
HVAC and/or electrical. |

| Work Schedule and Hours |
Work schedule is primarily Monday - Friday 8:30am -5:00pm. Due to the nature of position and department needs there will be occasional on call responsibilities (approximately one week per month). The employee is expected to respond to campus within 60 minutes when on-call. The employee will be compensated additionally for on-call responsibilities in accordance with
UNC Asheville policy. All Housing & Residence Life staff are designated as critical personnel in accordance with
UNC Asheville policy. |
