Short Description

The Manager of Cardiac Sonography assumes responsibility and accountability for the direction, implementation and evaluation of the staff and care delivery to ensure quality of patient care within the Echocardiography Department at the direction of the AVP of Procedural Services and Institute Leadership. He or she provides leadership that collaborates with other department leaders, team members, and physicians to ensure processes align with evidenced based standards, meet departmental objectives, patient care needs and efficient operations. In addition, the Manager will help to develop and implement tactics to drive growth, development, and engagement of the department and team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Team member management. Responsible for the hiring, training, mentoring, engagement, and performance evaluations of team members. This also includes accountability of time & attendance, schedules, vacations requests, competencies, licensure, and certifications.
  • Developing and implementing tactics to drive department growth, quality metrics, processes, policies, and financial stewardship to deliver high quality care and a positive patient experience.
  • Works with departmental and institute leadership to maintain accreditation with the InterSocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Echocardiography
  • Regulatory compliance- Working knowledge of applicable regulations and ensures compliance with Regulatory Agencies such as: NJ Department of Health, OSHA, CMS, and The Joint Commission; maintains preparedness for inspections; participates in evaluations; develops action plans for regulatory preparedness and remediation
  • Works within labor budget- minimizes overtime or promptly explains variances. Makes recommendations for changes in staffing to optimize productivity.
  • Assists in developing non-salary budget- works within non-salary budget by collaborating with Supply Chain and Clinical Engineering departments to maintain proper inventory of supplies, equipment maintenance/replacement/upgrades, and reimbursements.
  • Participates in capital budget process for the department as needed; identifies needs and prioritizes based on future departmental goals.
  • Facilitate continuing education to team members, students, and fellows.

Experience Required

3-5 years of experience required. 6-10 years of experience preferred.

Teaching and/or leadership experience preferred.

Skills/Qualifications Required:

  • Excellent communication skills; ability to interact with internal and external customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Clinical expertise- In depth knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, echocardiography, stress echo, and transesophageal echo (TEE).
  • Ability to critically think, identify problems and offer effective solutions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other computer applications used in healthcare and departmental operations.
  • Quality assurance- Developing protocols for image quality, equipment, maintenance, and clinical workflows.

Education Requirements

High School/or GED required

Bachelors degree preferred

&

Completion of certification program resulting in Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)


License/Certification Requirements

RDMS, ARDMS, RCS, RCVT, RDCS, or ARRT required

BLS from AHA required


Special Requirements

Full time, 40 hours a week

Monday-Friday and possible weekends

On call rotation

Hourly Rate Min $44
Hourly Rate Max $79


The New Jersey Pay Transparency Act requires disclosure of the pay range for this position.
