Position Overview: We are seeking an inspiring Architectural Leader to guide and grow our Hunt Valley, Maryland office-someone who blends design excellence with entrepreneurial drive and sees the lasting impact of design on communities and culture. This leader will guide complex, large-scale work, build strong client relationships, and champion creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Compensation for this position is $160,000.00 - $220,000.00, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. We notice that we receive a wide variety of applicants and recognize that the person selected may be less experienced or more experienced. If so, the actual salary range may vary from the estimate provided.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Design & Project Leadership



  • Oversee large-scale architectural projects ranging from $10M-$50M, ensuring high-quality design and successful project execution
  • Provide expert guidance in architectural design, graphic modeling, and technical documentation
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate innovative solutions into each project
  • Ensure projects meet client expectations, budget constraints, and regulatory requirements


Leadership & Business Development



  • Grow our presence across the region by identifying new opportunities and building meaningful client relationships
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive sustainable growth, secure new projects, and expand the firm's market share
  • Inspire and mentor a talented team of architects, providing guidance on design excellence, project delivery, and continuous professional growth
  • Cultivate trusted partnerships with clients, consultants, and community stakeholders to reinforce our reputation in the industry


Team & Office Growth



  • Foster a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the Hunt Valley office and across the firm's architecture practice
  • Attract, develop, and retain high performing talent to enhance the capabilities and portfolio of the office
  • Align team strengths with strategic goals to optimize productivity and impact


Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

Required Skills

  • Collaborative leader who will guide an established team, leveraging individual strengths while addressing growth opportunities

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills

Required Experience

  • BArch or BS in Architecture from a NAAB accredited program
  • Architectural license and 15+ years of experience in higher education architectural design & leadership
  • Proven business development skills with a track record of securing new projects and clients
  • Experience managing large-scale projects ($10M-$50M) from concept to completion
  • Design expertise utilizing industry software (Revit, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, etc.)


Preferred Experience



  • Master of Architecture
  • LEED AP accreditation
  • SCUP membership


Working Conditions

The selected candidate is expected to work in a JMT office location at least four days per week or as needed to perform assigned duties. While most of our work is desk-based, there may be times when standing, walking, bending and lifting of minimal weight are required.
