Field Service Technician - Laser Department: Laser Service Reports To: Regional Service Manager Location: Remote - Travel Required (U.S.) Description: As a Laser Field Service Technician, you will be the trusted on-site technical expert supporting our customers across the United States. In this role, you'll apply your mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills to repair and maintain advanced Mitsubishi laser cutting systems. This is a handson, customer-facing position that requires regular travel, independent problem solving, and strong communication skills. Technicians travel Monday-Friday and typically return home by Friday evening. Travel is primarily regional but may include nationwide or occasional international assignments. - Travel to customer sites to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex technical issues on Mitsubishi laser machinery.
- Perform mechanical and electrical inspections, including dismantling, rebuilding, and system adjustments.
- Provide remote troubleshooting support via phone when appropriate.
- Communicate professionally with customers to explain issues, timelines, and repair outcomes.
- Interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and block diagrams to support accurate analysis and repair.
- Document service activities, findings, and resolutions with clarity and detail.
- Accurately complete and submit expense reports in a timely manner.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and service vehicles in proper working conditions.
- Perform additional duties assigned to support customer satisfaction and department operations.

- Working knowledge of machining, manufacturing processes, or industrial equipment.
- Proficiency using common diagnostic and measurement tools such as voltmeters, multimeters, calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Ability to use Windows-based computer and service software.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working at heights when required.
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel extensively Monday-Friday.
Education & Experience Preferred but not required:
- Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, mechanics, mechatronics, or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues.
- Ability to read and interpret machine manuals, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and other technical documentation.
- Experience using electrical measurement equipment (e.g., voltmeter, oscilloscope).
- Experience utilizing precision measurement tools (e.g., indicators, micrometers, feeler gauges, and more).
Working Conditions
- Work is performed primarily indoors at customer facilities but may involve exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and industrial environments.
- Frequent travel and driving are required, typically using a personal vehicle or a companyapproved rental car; mileage or rental expenses are reimbursed by company policy.
- Occasional overtime may be required.
- Must be able to operate a motor vehicle safely.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, standing, and hand-intensive work.
- Regular lifting/carrying of up to 20 lbs. and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Constant pushing/pulling of equipment up to 50 lbs.; heavier loads may involve carts or mechanical aids.
- Requires good visual acuity, including color recognition.
