Description

Responsible for supporting the Bank's commercial lending activities by providing detailed, insightful, and

timely written credit analysis for new loan requests and existing lending relationships. Interprets financial

and credit statements, collateral, cash flow, and other factors in determining the credit worthiness of the

customer.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for spreading, analyzing, and performing in depth typed reviews of financial
  • information for current and prospective borrowers for all types of business structures, while
  • maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Assess commercial loan risk through the evaluation of financial statements, debt service capacity,
  • company management, loan collateral, industry trends, and guarantor financial capacity.
  • Identify credit related questions or concerns that may impact the borrower's timely and ultimate
  • repayment of the loan.
  • Communicate effectively with lenders, lending staff, and clients to obtain or convey pertinent credit
  • information.
  • Understand and adhere to the Bank's loan policy, other policies of the Bank, and regulatory
  • policies.
  • Participate in customer calls with the commercial lender.
  • Assists with the follow up and resolution of exceptions noted by external examiners.
  • Assists with special projects and tasks as requested by the Senior Vice President of Commercial
  • Credit.

Nonessential Functions

  • Performs additional duties as requested

Work Location: This position will be hybrid-remote based out of White River Junction, VT.

Requirements

What You'll Need

  • College degree, preferably a B.A. or B.S in accounting, business administration or economics; or equivalent combination of education and experience in the business/banking field
  • Three years commercial loan underwriting experience is required including the ability to underwrite every type of business structure
  • Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Word and Excel programs and the internet for research purposes
  • Knowledge of financial spreadsheet software helpful
  • Knowledge of CreditQuest beneficial, but not required
  • Ability to use and working knowledge of computers/strong typing skills
  • Good interpersonal communication
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and privacy
  • Professional appearance; grooming and dress consistent with MSB appearance policy

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift or transport up to 25 pounds
  • Varied work with a normal expenditure of energy and little or no unusual physical effort
  • May involve incidental business machine operations
  • Work involves intermittent periods of stationary positioning and traversing
  • Working conditions include well-lit and well-ventilated areas
