Position Overview

We have an excellent opportunity available in the Chicago, IL area for a full-time, temporary Environmental Technician. This position is expected to begin in April and continue through November, with the potential for extension based on project needs and workload.


Responsibilities

The Environmental Technician will support a combination of field and laboratory work.

Specific responsibilities include:




  • Assisting senior staff with environmental sample collection (e.g., phytoplankton, zooplankton, ichthyoplankton, benthos, soil, sediment, and water)



  • Conducting water quality monitoring activities



  • Performing data entry and maintaining accurate records



  • Supporting project mobilization and demobilization activities




Fieldwork will primarily occur throughout the Midwest, with occasional travel to other regions within EA's service area.

Travel Details: Weekly travel is expected. Assignments may be local or require overnight stays, typically ranging from 2-5 days, with occasional longer durations.


Required Qualifications



  • BA or BS in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geology, or a related field preferred



  • Valid driver's license



  • Ability to collect, analyze, and document biological and physicochemical data



  • Strong work ethic with demonstrated initiative, reliability, and attention to detail



  • Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours, including occasional nights and weekends



  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment





Note: This position requires specific driving duties. You must be able to pass a motor vehicle records check required by our insurer.

Pay Range
$22 $23 USD

The EA pay range for this position is intended as a general guideline and does not guarantee specific compensation or salary. Factors considered when making an offer include job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, alignment with market data, and compliance with federal and state laws.
