Mechanical Technologist
Oostburg, WI (On- site)
The Mechanical Technologist supports and improves manufacturing equipment and processes with a strong emphasis on mechanical systems, design, and reliability. This role works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Continuous Improvement, and Engineering teams to achieve organizational objectives related to safety, quality, efficiency, and cost. The position combines hands-on technical support with design, documentation, and training responsibilities while supporting ongoing skill and knowledge development within the organization. Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate, analyze, and recommend solutions for operational, manufacturing operating efficiency (MOE), quality, and safety improvements related to mechanical design and equipment performance.
- Integrate, troubleshoot, and assist in the design and improvement of assigned mechanical system, equipment, and work areas.
- Train Maintenance and Production personnel on mechanical systems, equipment operation troubleshooting techniques, and best practices.
- Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to identify and procure best-value solutions for fabrication, machining, and mechanical components.
- Perform and/or coordinate mechanical system and component design for cutting, processing, and packaging equipment.
- Create, maintain, and update mechanical system documentation, including part drawing, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
- Support training and documentation teams by contributing mechanical system designs and requirements related to operation, preventive maintenance, safety, quality, and sanitation.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by gathering input, evaluating opportunities, and supporting implementation of process improvement efforts.
- Research, design, and contribute to the implementation of mechanical automation systems used in a variety of manufacturing and production environments.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Engineering Project Manager and Director of Technical Services.
- Work off shifts as required to support information gathering, equipment observation, technical troubleshooting, programming changes, stakeholder meetings, and production support activities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Associates degree in a related field preferred; relevant certifications are a plus.
- Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within food or consumer goods manufacturing.
- Demonstrated experience in mechanical design, equipment modification, or manufacturing support in a related technical role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross - functional teams.
- Ability to positively influence others, particularly in support of change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong organizational and time - management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated follow - through and accountability with the ability to meet planned commitments.
- Ability to manage projects, support parallel workstreams, and adapt to change business needs.
