Assembly Technician

  • The individual will be initially trained in complex mechanical assembly, and later in deburring and robotic welder operation.
  • Complete complex mechanical assembly tasks using hand tools, air-powered tools, presses and other equipment.
  • Remove burrs from metal parts using both hand and air-powered tools.
  • Sand and polish the surfaces of metal parts to achieve the specified finish.
  • Fixture components and operate GMAW (MIG) robotic welding system to produce finished welds and complete parts.
  • Inspect completed parts to confirm conformance to blueprint requirements.
  • Detect and report machine and equipment malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
  • Communicate with supervisor for assignments and to resolve machining or quality issues.
  • Responsible for keeping equipment and work area clean and orderly.
  • Complete daily and weekly preventative maintenance checklists on assigned equipment.
  • Within the scope of the job requirements, adhere and comply with state and federal law, the Company AS9100 quality program and procedures, company policies and Safety and Environmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Experience:

Minimum of two years' experience in mechanical assembly installing bearings, heli-coils, and similar hardware. Previous experience in deburring, welding or fabrication helpful. Also, previous experience in machining helpful. A keen eye for detail and the ability to perform visual inspections is a must.

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with an ability to work precisely and avoid quality-related defects.
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading and welding specifications with an ability to use rulers, calipers, and micrometers to check part dimensions.
  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate in English (both oral and written) as it relates to the job.
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment.
  • Must possess basic math skills to include but not limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry, and algebra.
