Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed Patrol Route in Birmingham, AL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Healthcare, and more. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed patrol officer at a busy healthcare location, where you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, and maintain a visible presence that may help reduce security-related incidents. You will support access control, respond to calls for assistance, and deliver professional customer service through clear communication. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a healthcare location.
  • Respond to alarms, calls for service, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, and report incidents per site and Allied Universal requirements.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout buildings, corridors, waiting areas, and exterior areas such as entrances and parking areas to help to deter unwanted activity and/or identify hazards or maintenance issues.
  • Monitor access points during patrols by observing visitor flow, assisting with directions, and reporting suspicious behavior or policy violations to site leadership and/or local authorities as directed.
  • Complete patrol logs and incident documentation, and communicate significant events to the supervisor and oncoming shift.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
