Responsibilities
- 1. Manage vendor tracking system
- 1.1 Checks vendor management system daily for compliance
- 2. Utilize Daily Management Tools and nurtures a basic understanding of process and quality improvement philosophy
- 2.1 1.Demonstrates an understanding of process improvement as it is applied in SPD, process management tools, i.e., flow charts, affinity diagram, fishbone diagram.
2.Understands the customer/supplier relationship and its importance in improving quality and processes. 3.Takes a pro-active empowered approach to department problem solving activities.
- 3. Records and monitors critical indicators according to recommended policy.
- 3.1 1.Reads all indicators chemical, biological, mechanical and responds accordingly based on policy and processes to ensure sterility to customers.
2.Accurately records and completes all necessary information on department logs to ensure sterility to customers. 3.Reports and responds according to department and HSR, policy in all occurrences of malfunction or indication of non-sterility, i.e., recall.
- 4. Performs all DDC functions as required.
- 4.1 Decontaminates according to DDC policy.
2.Adheres to accepted practices in the cleaning, assembly, sterilization and distribution of surgical and patient care equipment. 3. Adheres to accepted DDC and Infection Control Policy. 4. Completes Orientation and Training in prescribed fashion and time. 5. Performs other duties as necessary and required. 6. Works independently on off shifts when scheduled.
- 5. Participates in training new associates, and facilitates department meetings.
- 5.1 1.Able to work independently train new associates when/where required in conformance with DDC policy.
2.Training methods must demonstrate organization, professional knowledge, and adhere to time requirements set forth by DDC policy. 3.Able, to develop meeting agenda and demonstrate skills necessary to facilitate and conclude meeting in a timely fashion.
- 6. Ability to prepare weekly duty schedule and required reports.
- 6.1 1.Demonstrates the ability to prepare the following: weekly duty
schedule, payroll report, sterilizer QA report and others that may be required. 2.Reports are to be prepared and submitted in a timely manner according to HSR and DDC policy.
- 7. Demonstrates an understanding of DDC inventory ordering and controls needed.
- 7.1 Possesses ability to restock DDC inventory levels if called upon to do so.
2. Has knowledge of inventory storage locations and policy/procedures required to replenish these locations. 3. Understands the relationship of operating budget to supply ordering and inventory control. 3.Adheres to HSR/DDC policy when placing orders.
- 8. Knowledgeable of JCAHO and its relationship with DDC, and HSR.
- 8.1 Develops an understanding of JCAHO and its impact on DDC/SPD policies and procedures.
2. Assists as required in JCAHO inspection preparation.
- 9. Possesses processing skills in specialization instrumentation
- 9.1 . Able to fully process power equipment, laproscopic, endoscopic and fiber optic equipment.
2. Able to identify special needs of equipment sent to SPD for reprocessing following SPD guidelines and policies. 3. Effectively utilizes contact individuals in SPD and OR's to improve communication/training education/instrument management.
Qualifications
EDUCATION High school graduate or equivalent. Base certification (NICHSPDT) and subsequent recertification **Employees employed by YNHH effective 9/12/2012 as a result of the acquisition of the Hospital of St Raphael may meet educational requirements with the applicable combination of education and experience and demonstration of current competences. EXPERIENCE Minimum 18 months as a level I Instrument Technician. Must have received an evaluation as labor grade 6, of exceeds expectations on previous evaluations. SPECIAL SKILLS Knowledge of decontamination/sterilization techniques and familiarity with surgical instrumentation.
