Overview

Waters Corporation is looking for a Principal Product Manager to join the Empower team and help shape how customers adopt and realize value from Empower in the cloud. In this role, you will translate customer and market insights into commercial offers, launch plans, and product priorities-balancing short-term revenue outcomes with the foundations of the next generation Empower product.

We're searching for an experienced Product Manager who is customer-obsessed, metrics-driven, and skilled at influencing across pricing, marketing, sales, finance, engineering, and customer success. You will advocate for our users and for the business, and you'll move with urgency while maintaining a high bar for quality and compliance in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

Own the commercial success of Empower cloud tools (adoption, conversion, retention, expansion) with clear KPIs and regular readouts to leadership.
  • Lead bundling, packaging, and pricing for Empower during the transition to subscription; partner with Finance, Global Pricing, Sales, and Marketing to define offers, run market tests, and iterate based on data.
  • Drive the subscription conversion strategy and execution in collaboration with Sales, Marketing, and Services; ensure smooth customer transitions and minimal disruption.
  • Define and maintain the near-term roadmap that unlocks commercial outcomes (trial-to-paid conversion, onboarding, usage, stickiness); work with Product Owners to translate goals into prioritized backlogs and releases.
  • Contribute to the early phases of the next generation Empower by validating value propositions, informing platform choices (e.g., APIs/integrations), and shaping MVP scope with evidence from customers and the field.
  • Continuously gather Voice of Customer and Market intelligence (customer meetings, advisory boards, win/loss, competitive analysis) to guide offers, pricing, and roadmap decisions.
  • Enable the field and partners with compelling positioning, messaging, demos, and launch materials; support key customer engagements and events as the product subject-matter expert.

Qualifications

  1. Education - Bachelor's degree required; degrees in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Engineering, or Computer Science preferred. Advanced degree is a plus.
  2. Experience - 8+ years in B2B software product management, including SaaS/subscription products and end-to-end launch/iteration in an agile, matrixed environment.
  3. Pricing & Packaging - Demonstrated success designing and evolving bundles, packaging, and pricing for commercial impact; fluency with financial and pricing concepts (e.g., unit economics, price/pack research, willingness to pay).
  4. GoToMarket Leadership - Proven ability to build business cases, lead cross-functional launches, and scale adoption/expansion motions in partnership with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success.
  5. Life Sciences / Informatics - Strong understanding of regulated lab software (e.g., CDS, SDMS, LIMS) and workflows; Empower or chromatography domain experience strongly preferred. Candidates without this background must be willing and able to rapidly gain a functional understanding of chromatography and Empower.
  6. Technical Acumen - Comfortable discussing cloud/SaaS concepts (e.g., APIs, microservices, deployment/validation in regulated settings) with Product, Engineering, Services, and customers.
  7. Analytics & Communication - Data-driven decision maker with excellent written, verbal, and executive level presentation skills.

Qualities required:

  • Proactive, accountable, and high integrity.
  • Customer-centric; passionate about solving real user problems and delivering measurable business results.
  • Clear, confident decisionmaker who communicates across a broad stakeholder matrix.
  • Pragmatic and experimental: comfortable with ambiguity, fast learning, and test-and-learn iteration.

Preferred:

  • Handson experience with chromatography/analytical chemistry, QC lab environments, or regulated life sciences informatics.
  • Familiarity with Empower and adjacent systems; appreciation of APIs/third-party integrations and partner ecosystems.
  • Experience migrating perpetual/on-prem offers to subscription/SaaS and scaling product-led adoption paths.
  • Basic financial acumen (forecasting, cohort analysis, pricing/packaging experiments).

Other:

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (estimated up to 10-15%).
