Job Summary

The position is supervised by the Program Manager and assists with the operational and administrative oversight of the Family Engagement and Preservation Services (FEPS) Unit in the Department of Family Services. This position will oversee the day-to-day supervision of the Prevention Specialist and Youth and Family Support Services Specialist positions and lead the coordination of Intake Services for the FEPS Unit with support from the Program Assistant for all clients/participants in the Family Support Services and Youth and Family Support Services. The Family Engagement and Preservation Services (FEPS) Program assists families experiencing crises and challenges related to youth behaviors by strengthening parental and family functioning through prevention, education, and supportive case management services. This position will manage the Client Emergency Needs funding requests from Unit Family Support Specialists (FSS) - Promoting Safe & Stable Families (PSSF). Program staff works with families to provide the following:
Ensure the safety of children and youth in their homes. Engage families and their support systems in creating service plans for children and youth safety, well-being, and permanence. Connect families with needed community services, benefits, and resources. Teach families new skills, techniques, and strategies to improve communication, enhance familial relationships, and decrease problem behaviors in youth and ensure all efforts are made to preserve the family unit, decrease stressors, and prevent family disruptions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supervises and trains staff. Manages staff performance in accordance with County and Human Resources (HR) policies. Provides regular feedback. Completes appraisals of performance. Ensures staff adheres to all applicable policies and procedures of the Department and the County. Ensures staff are trained and certifications are current. Advises supervisor of challenges with staffing, workload, or performance.
Hiring salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree required; four (4) years of directly related experience in a human services area to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Major coursework a Human Services field (Social Work, Psychology or related field).
- Master's degree in Social Work.
- Four (4) years of professional work experience in child, family, adult, or aging welfare or social services setting to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish and English.
