JOB OVERVIEW The Office of Research is hiring multiple new team members to support the daily operations of the University's new research facility, Digital Futures (DF). As a DF Student Ambassador, students will assist with meeting and event setup, front desk coverage, and general building support and maintenance needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Prepare, set up, oversee, and break down events, classrooms, and meeting spaces; ensure smooth transitions between reservations and facility events. - Maintain orderly classrooms and event spaces, including regular cleaning and basic upkeep of furniture, whiteboards, and equipment. - Prepare reserved spaces in a timely manner according to event schedules and setup requirements. - Operate audiovisual (AV) systems and perform basic AV troubleshooting as needed. - Provide excellent customer service by addressing visitor needs, resolving issues, and troubleshooting solutions. - Maintain a welcoming, professional environment for all Digital Futures visitors. - Set up, store, and organize furniture and equipment safely and efficiently. - Complete daily and weekly Digital Futures building checklists. - Utilize building scheduling systems to review reservation details and plan space transitions. - Attend required meetings and trainings as scheduled. - Complete incident and/or accident reports when a supervisor is unavailable. - Contact security when necessary to ensure safety and compliance. - Assist with facility projects, basic maintenance tasks, and special assignments as needed. - Conduct scheduled inventories of furniture and equipment. - Follow and enforce operational policies, procedures, and safety standards. - Report to work on time and adhere to the required dress code. - Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Building Operations or designee. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service in a professional and respectful manner. - Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments while following established policies and procedures. - Ability to perform required physical activities for extended periods of time. -Availability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends based on operational needs and declared academic schedules. - Strong interpersonal skills, reliability, and a positive, professional attitude. - Basic familiarity with audiovisual (AV) equipment. - High School Diploma or GED - Enrolled at a post-secondary institution or a secondary school - Enrolled at least part-time (one or more credit hours if at a post-secondary institution), except for summer term, or will be a registered student during the next academic term. - Must be at least 18 years of age. - "Enrollment" shall include: - The period between two successive terms for which the student is enrolled. - The one "off" term in each academic year in which the student is not enrolled. Student employee status may be retained for one additional term following either graduation or withdrawal from enrollment. As a UC student employee, and employee of an Ohio public institution, if hired you will not contribute to the federal Social Security system, other than contributions to Medicare. Instead, UC employees have the option to contribute to a state retirement plan (OPERS, STRS) or an alternative retirement plan (ARP). If hired, you will be required to provide satisfactory proof of employment eligibility.
