The School of Biological Sciences is one of the largest schools at UCI, serving over 5000 undergraduate and graduate students.

The Charlie Dunlop School of Biological Sciences Facilities and Purchasing unit takes pride in sustaining the daily operation, repair and maintenance of Dunlop School buildings and grounds. We also partner with our campus facilities to accomplish alterations, improvements, and renovations of physical facilities. Additionally we assist in all purchasing-related tasks for the school including PalCard set-ups and training, UCIBuy and KFS requisitions support.


Your Role on the Team

Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review. Directs subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Works on issues of limited scope. Requires full knowledge of facilities management and purchasing. Oversees and participates in more complex design and construction projects and complex purchasing orders and contracts. Supervises two facilities staff and three purchasing coordinators.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Working knowledge of the organization's processes and procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling to effectively motivate others.
  • Skills to evaluate issues and identify resolutions.
  • Strong service orientation with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Supervisor skills to lead a purchasing and facilities group ensuring adherence to campus practices, policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of building and construction, design, construction contract administration and state building codes.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • 3-5 yearsRelative experience in Procurement and Facilities
  • 1-3 yearsSupervision
