On-Call Line Cook, UAS Dining Services 1371 (CIRCA)

Salary: $19-$22/hourly

Work Schedule: This is a part-time position; work schedule is Monday - Sunday; hours vary; this is a non-exempt position. This position is not eligible for benefits. This is a temporary appointment expiring on or before July 31, 2027, with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon availability of funds.

Position Overview: The On-Call Line Cook supports kitchen operations by preparing and cooking menu items as needed to meet fluctuating business demands. This position is ideal for an experienced cook who can work flexible hours and maintain high standards of food quality, safety, and cleanliness. Reports to UAS Head Chef.

Essential Functions:

• Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to recipes and presentation standards
• Set up and break down assigned workstations before and after shifts
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas, including equipment and storage
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards at all times
• Assist with food prep, stocking, and inventory as needed
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and supervisors to ensure timely service
• Adapt quickly to changing menu items, volume, and kitchen needs
• Properly store food and label items in accordance with health regulations
• Perform other special projects as assigned.

Requirements:

• Previous experience as a line cook and or catering production
• Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
• Familiarity with food safety and sanitation regulations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks
• Strong attention to detail and consistency
• Availability to work flexible, on-call hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Must have Food Safe Handler Certificate, if not, will be certified upon employment.

The incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the UAS.
