Duke Health Development & Alumni Affairs (DHDAA) supports a flexible work environment by offering on-site (in office 5 days a week), hybrid (in office a minimum of 2 days a week or defined by manager), remote (work off-site 5 days a week), and flexible start and end time work arrangements. All team members must reside within a 50-mile radius of our downtown Durham office.

If working a hybrid or remote schedule, individuals must have access to and maintain a secure home office environment with high-speed internet service and work collaboratively with others using a variety of technologies and tools. With approval from their manager, staff members may work a flexible schedule in terms of start/end times, while working within DHDAA's core work hours between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (eastern standard). At the discretion of Managers and/or Senior Leadership, staff working a hybrid, remote or flex schedule may be required to be in the office on days and/or times outside of the agreed upon schedule.

This position is full-time located in Durham, NC. This is not a remote position.

The Prospect Management Analyst holds a pivotal role within the Prospect Development team at Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs (DHDAA). This team provides data insights by analyzing and disseminating information to direct and inform solicitation and engagement strategies for prospective, past, and current donors to Duke Health. The Prospect Management Analyst will perform a variety of duties involving analyzing, processing, and documenting prospect data requests within multiple Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems. The Prospect Management Analyst will also partner with DHDAA fundraisers and colleagues to ensure Prospect Management best practices are being observed, and that donors are effectively moving through the solicitation cycle.

This position reports to the Associate Director of Prospect Management.

Work Arrangement - Hybrid - This is not a remote position. This position is full-time located in Durham, NC.

Anticipated Pay Range - Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $59,829.00 to USD $86,700.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES/SKILLS




  • Prospect development or institutions of higher education experience.
  • Prior experience with university constituent database systems.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills with the ability to synthesize and accurately present relevant information.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel. Basic proficiency with standard analytic tools including Tableau and/or SQL.
  • Ability to apply independent judgment and initiative. Must be able to share success and integrate ideas.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of development data.
  • Attention to detail and ability to execute daily tasks with accuracy and timeliness.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Training - Work requires the skills and knowledge normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Experience - Work generally requires one (1) year of experience in development research or a related field.

Work experience in research methodology strongly preferred.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE.

Work Performed

Prospect Management (65%)




  • Partner with prospect management analysts within Alumni Engagement and Development to achieve Duke-wide objectives related to creating and entering Prospect Team assignments in the Duke Development and Alumni Database (DADD). Share tools and resources and participate in joint professional development opportunities.
  • Process and respond to prospect management department requests in a timely and thoughtful manner. Requests may include but are not limited to: individual and bulk prospect team requests, prospect management inquiries, and data corrections.
  • Drive strategies to grow the size and value of the DHDAA managed prospect pool through maintenance and analysis of information including producing reports and working to develop strategies and solutions that advance programs, services, and offerings.
  • Utilize organizational knowledge and constituency data, including prospect segmentation tools, to explain and make recommendations for activity, strategy, and assignment.
  • Maintain expert level knowledge of Duke's CRMs and supplemental tools. This includes DADD, Salesforce (the CRM used for grateful patients), and related internal and external tools, systems, and resources.
  • Assist and support prospect strategy meetings providing data to influence or shape successful strategy, next steps, and outcomes. Demonstrate ability to adapt and customize prospect strategy management, tracking, and reporting for various prospect segments (annual gift prospects, major gift prospects, and principal gift prospects).
  • Assist in implementation, training, and maintaining a comprehensive prospect management program that provides organization wide transparency, consistency, coordination and collaboration of fundraiser engagement and solicitation activities.
  • Benchmark with peer institutions and participate in professional organizations such as APRA to stay abreast of new resources, tools, and strategies to improve services.
  • Provide support in the development and implementation of metrics, system modifications and tools to support prospect management efforts across the organization.



Relationship Management (25%)




  • Assist in building mutually respectful relationships with gift officers and support staff across DHDAA that result in community standard socialization, partnership, and best outcomes.
  • Assist in conversations on all aspects of Prospect Management including portfolio optimization, system training, and process change management.
  • Assist in identifying community needs and opportunities for improvement. Listen, translate, and act on recommendations from leadership.
  • Assist in implementing best practices for distributing information to a complex decentralized network of interested parties.
  • Assist with the updating of training materials and documentation when needed.
  • Promote policies, processes, projects, and strategies that drive effective donor solicitation and relationship development.



Data Integrity (10%)




  • Analyze and process Prospect Management related requests from gift officers and support staff across DHDAA.
  • Enter any related items associated with request into respective CRM.
  • Champion Prospect Management best practices at all times.
